if someone asks you, "so, are you really as good as your test scores?" what does that mean? Talked to the dept. head of business today... She asked me what my GMAT score was, and when I told her, she asked me was I really that good? not sure how to take that, exactly...

ok... haven't updated in a while. Partly due to the fact that memphis got steamrolled by a storm that knocked power out of over 325,000 ppls homes in two counties. My web server was in one of those houses. And while their l33t-ness allowed them to have floodlights coming out of their windows along with laptops and a fully functional T1, their l33tness simply didn't have enough power to bring up all 2,472 computers in their house.

Meanwhile, I have discovered several things about myself, those around me, and the world in general that I find more than just slightly intriguing. For example:
-the true reason that men make pregnant women ice cream sundays at 2am...
-the exact reaction provoked when a woman walks into a nice restaurant wearing no top...
-never think that you know so much about old friends that you can assume certain things about them...
-curiosity is a curious thing...
there are a ton more, but I can't find ways to word them so that they'll be vague and thought provoking. I mean, just saying "my finances are screwed up" doesn't have the same ring to it... maybe I could say something like "my fiances alone could prove the duality of the universe," which is thought provoking, and somewhat vague... wait... I kinda like that... ok... add one more thing to the list of stuff I've learned lately:
-my finances alone could prove the duality of the universe...

If anyone knows of a good, cheap place to live in Po'dunk, please let me know.

So what would be the ups and downs of taking on a full time teaching position at State? I've been pondering this question today... In my 4 day quest to find a better paying job, I actually got a lead today... Had someone tell me he thinks I'd be good to fill a soon-to-be-announced position. It pays $34K/year, but it's a full time job. Granted, it comes with all the benefits and priviledges of being staff at State, but it means I only get to take 2 classes a semester instead of the normal 4-5. Plus, it's a 12 month appointment instead of 9, so they'd want me to work next summer. but it's $34K/year as compared to the $5K a year I will get paid otherwise. just a slight difference.

anyway, y'all don't want to hear me drone on about money and jobs and my life, right? well, too bad. You have to hear about my life, that's why I write here... but I'll try to stop talking about money..... right after I mention that I almost paid $4K for a 1967 mustang that was made out of paper maché, and I think I'm gonna have to sell my mustang no matter how I look at it. joy.

well, this post seems to be getting a little long... and I think I've rambled enough.

How lame can you get? Here it is, TWO DAYS later, after we all agreed that we would call off the "discussion" and Mr. Lame @$$ decides to IM me a link to another stupid webpage that happens to show a mid-80s mustang add that uses the word notchback. Congratulations. You've proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are lame.

So, now you have found one more person that agrees with you... That must absolutely prove unquestionable that you are right, right? no... It shows your need to be right, but it doesn't prove you right. We weren't talking about mid-80s mustangs. We were talking about classic mustangs. In regards to the fox body mustangs (85-93), you have a better ground to argue. Here is a website that shows about 75 people who use the term notchback in regards to the fox body mustang. 76-12... good numbers in your favor. Ok... the website also shows 161,687 car adds which do NOT use the word notchback... hmmm... 76-161,699. uh oh... you have problems. You see, the point was not that you couldn't find one or two people that agreed with you... the point was that there were far more people that agree with me. Therefore, notchback is not an accepted term among the majority of people who know what they're talking about. By majority, I mean AT LEAST 2721-to-1.

I would also like to thank you for proving two more points. 1) you must always argue with anything. 2) you can never be wrong.

Please please please believe me when I say that if you continue to pursue this arguement, you accomplish nothing more than prove your ignorance and re-iterate the above two points.

you are beaten.

I hereby declare that the sky is not, in fact, blue, but is rather a pale shade of brown. This is stated as a fact on my blog, which, in turn, makes it stated as fact on the internet. Since apparently anything on the internet is unquestionably accurate and always infallible, this fact is hereby indisputable.

Thank you,
the Supreme Ruler of the World

quote of the day:

"I am going to kill you, and you are going to cooperate" - Chelsea

speaking of chelsea... she broke her thumb tonight... well... not really broke... more like separated the joint in her thumb. we (caleb, chelsea and I) were wrestling, and chelsea got caleb in this awesome hold... she got behind him and had his left arm in an arm bar with her legs and she had him in a sleeper choke hold with her arms... caleb was pretty much a fish out of water... all he could do was flop... well, he got frustrated and grabbed her thumb and compressed it... so now she's in a thumb splint. we'll see how bad it is tomorrow...

so... here's an open call for advice... what do I do with my '67 mustang? restore it? sell it as is? fix it up and sell it? do nothing with it and let it continue to rot? either way, sell it and buy me a new '67 mustang? or a 64 1/2? ::sigh:: one little decision and I can't make it... money is the main limiter here, btw... oh well.... if I had enough money, I'd buy me a new one, then drop thomas' friends' 429/460 into it, and buy this sweet dual quad carb intake I saw for it and make it a scary fast quarter-mile-type car...

ok... sleep now... busy tomorrow....

you know what annoys me? ok... there was a shooting today at Lockheed in Mississippi. so, space.com reports the story here, and they open by saying basically some guy opened fire at his work place and killed people. After they give details of the shooting, they add that the shootings did not seem to be racially motivated, but some coworkers did think he was racist.

Now, MSN reports the story here, and they open with the line, "An employee described by co-workers as a white racist opened fire at random at a Lockheed Martin plant Tuesday..." Twelve (yes, 12) paragraphs later they finally get to the facts, "Sheriff Billy Sollie told The Associated Press that there was 'no indication [the shootings] involved race or gender.'”

MSN sucks.

Man, I love hanging with BC... discovered that the best way to shoot mortar/artillery shells is the WRONG way. Turn them upside down, light and run like #!$^ If you're using a cardboard tube, you can only do this once... if you're using the spiffy carbon-graphite ones like we had 2 of, you can do this over and over... I don't think Deedee liked this very much, but I wouldn't have done it if I thought it was unsafe. Of course, the first time was very unsafe... it was an accident. Someone loaded the mortar shell in my tube upside down... I was standing only about 3 feet away when it went off, and instead of shooting up, I saw the fire come out of the tube... I ran... fast... I remember the brilliant green that lit up the entire driveway and was very glad I moved when I did. After that we took them way out into the street before we lit them. lol.... ask me sometime about the one that Del lit in the middle of the fuse instead of the end... I can't properly relay the story over here, but it's great.

I must also say that if you ever want something for a grand finale to your personal fireworks display, set two of the new 300 count saturn missle boxes next to each other and light them... I bought one and it was worth every penny of the $18 it cost. I think I might go get another if they're on sale tomorrow.

Oh, and for BC ppl who were inquiring as to my DVD list, check here

made progress on the mustang tonight. bought parts and completely dismantled both of the front wheels. tomorrow we flush the front brake lines, put the new parts in, reassemble what's left and then completely disassemble the rear wheels. Not sure whether or not we'll get to putting them back together tomorrow. depends... I managed to take the second wheel apart in about half the time the first one took... maybe I can get the back ones done early... but that would mean having all four wheels off of the mustang... just what every southern home needs... a car on cinder blocks... well, jack stands, but still. It's happened before, actually... ironically, when we rebuilt the brakes last time.

ok... so we'll have the brakes done... big deal... I've revamped my list of things to do to that car. they range from "install new engine" to "replace 289 emblem on right door" in the middle there is welding in new floor pans, new carpet, and more things then you care for me to list. and I'm still not even sure what I'm gonna do with that car once I get it up and running. sell it? keep it? drive it instead of my intrepid? if I do sell it, I think I'm gonna have to auction it, because at last check, I have at least two parties interested in buying the car.

ok... gotta run... must sleep and start again tomorrow.
